Hedonism
From Grain to Gold
Hedonism was the first release from Compass Box – a blended grain Scotch whisky that launched the company in 2000, broke new ground for the category, and became a cult favourite in the years that followed. It was also the first bottle in Scotch whisky history to feature a female figure on its label.
But by 2023, Compass Box faced a challenge: the older grain whiskies essential to Hedonism’s original recipe were becoming increasingly scarce.
Rather than compromise, the brand reimagined Hedonism as an annual limited release – evolving its recipe each year while collaborating with a different female artist to reimagine the iconic ‘Hedonism Woman’.
Delightful Media was brought in to help tell this new chapter of the Hedonism story.
Released in February 2024, From Grain to Gold is a 10-minute documentary that traces the journey of Hedonism – from radical idea to global success to creative rebirth.
Blending culture and craft, the film explores the whisky’s origins and the first artistic collaboration with Scottish painter Stephanie Rew, who reinterpreted the Hedonism Woman for a new era.
The project was awarded Best Marketing Campaign at The Spirits Business Awards 2024, with judges praising it as:
“Exciting, eye-catching, and perfectly pitched to draw more drinkers to the Scotch whisky category. The link between craftsmanship and art was evocative and clear, creating outstanding results. A stunning piece of marketing.”

Following the success of From Grain to Gold, we created a follow-up documentary – Behind the Blend – released in 2025.
This second film shifted the focus to the evolving character of the new Hedonism whiskies and the brand’s next artistic collaboration with Argentinian artist Sofia Bonati – looking forward to Hedonism’s future while staying true to its original spirit.
